Update: Police Identify Good Samaritan in Route 17 Crash

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of Friday’s Route 17 accident in the Town of Windsor

70-year-old Ethel Hausch of Windsor had stopped on Route 17 near Exit 79 to assist a motorist who lost control on icy roads and had struck the guide rails. She was struck by a Chrysler Sebring that lost control as it came across the ice covered bridge.

The driver of the Sebring sustained head injuries and was taken to Wilson Memorial hospital.

The driver of the first car involved was not injured.
