A fire in Waverly early this morning has taken the life of one man and sent two other residents to the hospital The call came in at 2:30 this morning for a fire at a two-story apartment building at 7 Ithaca Street in the village. Firefighters from Waverly Barton Found the structure fully engulfed in flames. They were alerted that a person was reportedly trapped on the first floor and crew went in to rescue that victim. Two others jumped to safety from the second story. All three were taken to Robert Packer Hospital where one of the victims was pronounced dead. The other two, a man and a woman, were treated for smoke inhalation. According to published reports, one of the victims who escaped to safety, Louis Sandroni, said 22-year old Jordan Brown was the resident who died from the fire. Authorities have not released that information yet. Waverly and Sayre fire departments both responded to the scene and it took an hour to bring the fire under control. The apartment building is a total loss.
