Crews were evacuated Thursday morning following a fire at a Pennsylvania gas compressor station. It happened around 11:40 a.m. at the Lathrop station owned by Williams Gas Company on State Route 29 in Springville.

A spokesperson for Williams says no one was hurt during the incident, but crews remained on the scene throughout the afternoon.

It is being described as a flash fire, which was extinguished by the station’s own emergency equipment.

The station is shut down indefinitely while personnel examine what caused the fire.

Springville is about four miles south of Dimock, the Pennsylvania town that has been the center of much of the debate over hydrofracking in the past few years.
