It’s no secret that Syracuse university Basketball had a stellar season…and now, three S.U.  teammates are sharing another distinction–being picked in the NBA Draft. 6 foot four guard Deon Waiters was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the Number 4 draft pick in yesterday’s draft. Only four players in Syracuse history have been drafted higher than Waiters. He never started a game in his college career, but became a lottery pick after excelling in his role off the bench. Last season, Waiters averaged 12.6 points in just 24.1 minutes per game and was named the Big East’s 6th Man of the Year. Later in the draft, the Boston Celtics drafter two of Waiter’s teammates. Fab Melo was the pick number 22. And in the second round the Celtics took Kris Joseph as their number 51 pick. It marked the first time three Syracuse players were taken in the same draft since 1986.
