The Broome County Sheriff’s Office responded to 411 Park Avenue in the Town of Binghamton Saturday, for a domestic dispute, that escalated into arresting and charging a Binghamton man with multiple felonies.

40-year-old Richard Hadley Jr. was initially arrested Saturday evening for a domestic incident. The judge issued an order of protection, preventing him from returning to his residence.

Hadley subsequently made bail, and returned to the home despite the judge’s orders. Hadley’s mother called 911 to report that he had returned, and that was pouring gasoline in the basement and first floor of the home, as well as all over himself. He was attempting to light the house on fire. Hadley’s mother, sister, and 15-year-old nephew were all in the house at the time. Patrols arrived moments later and were able to stop Hadley without incident.

He was arrested again, and this time charged with attempted arson, contempt of court, criminal mischief, and three counts of reckless endangerment. All four charges are felonies. Hadley was arraigned in Binghamton court and remanded to the Broome County Jail, this time without bail.
