A woman formerly of Elmira who is accused of setting a house fire in Rochester in February that killed four of her children was scheduled to return to Monroe County Court Monday afternoon.
31-year old Bobbie Kugler faces four counts of second-degree murder, four counts of second-degree manslaughter, three-counts of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree arson for recklessly setting the fire and causing the deaths.
Police say she was burning pictures of a former boyfriend and carelessly tossed the ignited photos onto a dresser which caused the blaze to spread.
Rochester firefighters rescued Kugler and her 2-year-old son from the first floor of the residence but the other four children perished in the fire. Three others in the apartment were able to jump to safety but suffered injuries, which is what led to the assault charges.
