A Unadilla man crashed his car along Route 81 yesterday and is now facing drunk driving charges. Broome County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 45-year old Donald Baird. They reported that Baird failed to negotiate a curve just south of Exit 6 and drove onto the center grass median, then drove down a steep embankment between the Route 81 North and South bridges over Castle Creek Road. The car finally hit a guardrail and came to a stop. A sheriff’s patrol found the car empty and located Baird walking along Front Street a short time later. He was found to be drunk and police charged him with DWI, unsafe lane changing and leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries were reported
