Blackhawk Rescues 2 After Adirondacks Plane Crash

A dramatic Blackhawk helicopter rescue has aided two passengers of a small plane that went down in the Adirondacks Thursday evening. The plane went down in Gulf Lake in the Herkimer County town of Webb. , about 60 miles northeast of Syracuse. The U.S. Air Force military helicopter was on a training mission and heard the distress calls about 9 pm. State police say the two who were on board the plane were not seriously hurt. The Blackhawk took them to the Army base at Fort Drum. Safety experts were expected to return to the crash site to investigate.
