Seven people–from the local area and from as far away as Georgia–are under arrest after a 19-month investigation into crystal meth. Federal and New York state law enforcement investigators released details of the drug bust at a press conference at the state trooper barracks in Kirkwood this afternoon. Police said the arrests involved drug trafficking in crystal meth, not the manufacture of the drug. Facing felony charges for drug distribution are 30-year old Donivan Pittman and 39-year old Addie Cole both of Georgia; 49-year old Thomas Cole of the town of Union; 54-year old Matthew and 57-year old Cynthia Hibbard of the town of Binghamton; 50-year old Ernesto Nava of New Milford, PA and 33 year old Dillon Capwell of Montrose , PA. Law enforcement officials say they began the investigation in January of 2011. Since then, they’ve confiscated one and a half pounds of crystal meth manufactured in Mexico, with a street value of $120,000. Also seized in their investigation were 45 guns and $30,000 cash. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is prosecuting the case against those arrested.
