Binghamton announces another project to fight blight

The City of Binghamton has announced their next project to tackle blight. Officials announced an $11 million project yesterday that will renovate a dozen properties in the city’s First Ward. It includes the rehabilitation of 11 houses on Crandall Street into 40 affordable housing units and the renovation of the historic Sturtevant House into a community center operated by the United Way of Broome County. Construction is set to begin this fall. The project will be funded by a combination of state, local, and private funds.
